Action from 20 August 1944 to 23 August 1944
On 20 Aug we carry out a real chase after the enemy. The German defence south-east of Jort collapsed. Infantry and armoured brigade marched hot on the enemy' heels.
We passed quickly through Sassy-Jort, Baron, Montreuil la Cambe. We occupied a very hilly and wooded area about 5 kilometres east of this locality. The battalions and the 2nd Armoured Regiment moved further east on the night of 20/21 August (having probably deviated from the route). They took Les Champeaux. The 8th Battalion, transported on tanks, suffered the heaviest losses. The C.K.M. Squadron, still in action, did all it could, often saving the day.
From Les Champeaux the troops were directed south-east 6-7 kilometres- to cut off the retreat of Germans from the pocket. They occupied hill 262- and 252- named in Polish: "Maczuga1".
