Kazimierz Duda C.K.M. Band of Brothers CHRONICLES DOCUMENTS

A new reorganisation.
As mentioned above the Supporting Arms Battalion was formed from the former Reconnaissance Regiment on 1. XI.1943 and on 18.XI. 43 with mp. Dalkeith transferred to Immerliethau, Peebles Shire. In the spring of 1944 rumours began to circulate about a new reorganisation of our unit.
The rumours were varied, more or less logical. As the rumour began to spread and upset people, they denied the rumour by claiming that the Division Commander Gen. Maczek wanted to keep the remains of the Reconnaissance regiment in its entirety and would not agree to any other solution. Everyone still had hopes of rebuilding the reconnaissance regiment when the armoured division became an army corps. The hope of a return to the old form of organisation was widespread and welcomed by all with enthusiasm. However, the voices of the sceptics were stronger and it was constantly claimed that we would be disbanded.
