Kazimierz Duda C.K.M. Band of Brothers CHRONICLES DOCUMENTS

Following the failed action of the dragoon regiment, the front line passes along the canal. On one side the Germans, on the other our division. Our tactic is to 'attack the soft and weak points' in the enemy's defence.
Our artillery is permanently active. The Germans responded sporadically with mortar fire and their artillery.
On 19 September, the 9th Battalion, accompanied by a C.K.M. platoon under the command of Lieutenant Janikowski1, pushed through the canal and occupied the town. After a bridge was assembled by the division's sappers, all Polish units were on the other side of the canal.
The next day, an infantry brigade and an armoured brigade formed two groups. One group took the seaport and small town of Terneuzen, the other, to the east, parallel to the first, 'finished' the ruined German defence.
The pocket was closed. Many Germans surrendered. Tanks and artillery destroyed many barges loaded with troops preparing to flee to the Dutch islands. Once this task was accomplished, the division was able to take a rest.
