Kazimierz Duda C.K.M. Band of Brothers CHRONICLES DOCUMENTS

Our artillery and heavy mortars are active all the time. We push the Germans further and further back. Many are taken prisoner, among them many Poles.
The infantry brigade is not complete, because the 9th battalion left with the 10th armoured brigade and left Ghent on 17 September at 1.30 p.m. and crossed the Dutch border that day at 3.40 p.m. At Koewacht, 4 km south of Axel.
The whole brigade is engaged in the fighting on the Hulst canal. The Germans have blown up all the bridges and are resisting on the other bank. Efforts by the Dragoon Regiment to form a bridgehead were unsuccessful. One and a half squadrons were isolated and suffered heavy losses in killed, prisoners and wounded.
