Kazimierz Duda C.K.M. Band of Brothers CHRONICLES DOCUMENTS

Yes, it is retreating, but not very quickly, inflicting extremely heavy losses on the Canadian corps.
The front in our section is, it is safe to say, unstable. No one knows the situation exactly. Our troops are mixed up and intermingled with the Germans. The fighting is raging all around us, shots are being fired everywhere and no one knows who is doing it, enemy or allies. On top of that, the air force is bombing everything in its path. It's a real war here: everyone is fighting without mercy. Germans, it must be admitted, are fighting well.
We take prisoners from all kinds of detachments, mixed up like a mosaic. Today we captured German paratroopers1, sent to help the detached troops.
There is one plus side to these communiqués for us: it is a joke that makes us laugh, but we regret that the reporters and speakers are not here with us.
