Kazimierz Duda C.K.M. Band of Brothers CHRONICLES DOCUMENTS

Gathering area of the 1st Division

About 5 miles north of Bayeux our Division stood in a concentration area. It has been three days since the division started to land and it is still far from being finished, the rest of the troops are still arriving. Things are not going well, as it is not easy to land several dozen ships in a stormy sea.
Today came the first news not yet confirmed by an official order. 1st Armoured Division is to become a part of 2nd Canadian Corps of the 1st Army in the Caen sector.
For the time being the Division stands in the area of La Rosiere, -Magny,- Ryes.
All troops are bivouacking in the wide fields in this area.
We are awaiting orders to move to the front line. When this will take place is not yet known - rumour has it that it will not be long.
