The explanation came when the first orders were received and from then on we did not talk about it.
The verbal order of the division, repeated in writing, said that the C.K.M. squadron would be placed 'temporarily' at the disposal of the commander of the 3rd Infantry Brigade, which was part of the 1st Armoured Division. From then on all direct contact with the divisional command was broken off and the squadron received all its orders through the brigade.
