From a purely military camp in Dalkeith the squadron came to quarters that were almost private, for they were accommodated in two Church Halls. In one, on Leithen Road in the Parish Church Hall, the third platoon housed the shoemaker's and tailor's workshops.
On Pern Road1 in Craigside Parish Church Hall- 1st and 2nd Platoon + Combat Post of the Squadron Leader. Squadron. All patrol Zap. with drivers of three ton carts at Arab Club2 near the square garaging the carts. Senior NCOs in Craighill chambers. Squadron chief and NCO at the squadron chambers, where 1st and 2nd Platoons.
At first it seemed that the accommodation was at a disadvantage, as there was heating, but with Polish cunning the central heating came on and the squadron were very happy with their quarters. It turned out that the brick buildings were much better than the barracks. Health condition improved considerably.
