The Dutch were not at all concerned there, on the contrary, they started to organise a new hospital for those little Poles to be born.
Many [of our men] have married and are happy. Many of them will certainly settle permanently in Breda.
A civilian cinema was started in Breda in the spring. The films were supplied by England. Old Dutch films are also shown.
Two cinemas are open for the military, in one of which the E.N.S.A.1, the military theatre company, performs almost daily.
They broadcast quite good revues for the army- for free, but civilians were not allowed in.
There were also several bars and hotels in the city, where only very poor quality beer was served. Lavish establishments decorated with splendour for such a provincial town, but barefoot and poor in supplies. You couldn't get coffee or tea anywhere. No mention of cake.
