Kazimierz Duda C.K.M. Band of Brothers CHRONICLES DOCUMENTS

There, service was more difficult, as access to the island1 itself was rather unpleasant, as was the delivery of food due to the rough sea. These activities were more of an entertainment after the holiday period and idleness in Breda.
As for our stop in Breda, it was one of the more pleasant moments of the war, which are usually remembered and talked about for longer, just as the really difficult moments are remembered for longer.
Breda, a pleasant town and very friendly to us (we are its citizens by virtue of having been liberated). The inhabitants, or rather the female inhabitants, tried to return the favour as best they could. Our soldiers somehow managed to get along (we don't know how) and life flowed sweetly and pleasantly. So sweetly that after our stay there were 500 "expectant mothers", counting only single women (those who were married were counted on their husbands' account). The Dutch were not at all concerned there, on the contrary, they started to organise a new hospital for those little Poles to be born.
