So much for the use of the squadron and its command, as observed by a member of the squadron command.
Related to the aspect of tactical use is the deployment of units in the field and therefore the way in which each unit was supplied with food, fuel and ammunition.
There is no doubt that a unit such as the CKM¹ squadron, which was a support weapon, theoretically at the disposal of the brigade commander, allocated to the battalions, was very difficult to supply.
The main difficulty arose from the fact that the platoons were scattered over an entire sector occupied by the 3rd Infantry Brigade.
Therefore the vehicle sent with the food had to wander from battalion to battalion and often even spend time looking for them among the companies. We imposed a procedure: a platoon was compelled to send a vehicle itself to collect food, petrol and ammunition from the squadron command, which as mentioned above was usually stationed at the same place as the brigade command. While "A" Section sent supplies by its own means to the squadron command.
Often, however, food had to be brought to the front line, as a platoon could not always send its own vehicle to collect supplies.
