Kazimierz Duda C.K.M. Band of Brothers CHRONICLES DOCUMENTS

There was not enough time, although, as the saying goes, 'war years count double'.
All divisions of the Division suffered from the same handicap. Especially the infantry battalions and the dragoons, which suffered very heavy losses. Already in the Netherlands, on the Meuse and the Mark Canal, the difference in value between the old and the new recruits could be seen. During difficult operations, the commanders shook their heads and all repeated as if in echo one after the other: 'this is not the kind of army we need'. The C.K.M. Squadron was in such a difficult situation that it was never commanded in a cohesive manner. As mentioned above in relation to the tactical use of the squadron, it was divided between the battalions, and the battalions divided the allocated platoon into even smaller parts, making them available to company commanders, and often to platoon commanders. One can imagine the 'treatment' given to the assigned unit. The squadron was exploited to the full. Often the CKMs had to march forward, or stand in the outpost, even though this was not their job.
