Stationing at Breda
As mentioned above, on 8 November, after the end of the operations at Moerdyk and the expulsion of the Germans across the Meuse in our sector, many units left for a well-deserved rest. Among them was also the CKM squadron.
After a period of rest, we set to work. First of all, the equipment had to be put in order. The Carrier, poorly or not at all maintained, refused to work. The same applied to the other vehicles. The weapons had to be repaired and brought up to standard.
The soldiers' uniforms and equipment were incomplete, mismatched and often torn.
All this began to be slowly put in order. The weather was good during this period, although it was quite cold.
The inhabitants were happy about this stopover, as everyone received many comforts and pleasures. The Dutch women immediately appreciated their liberators.
